Snapshot Sunday: Cartela

I was wondering what to do for today’s photo when I read an article about the restoration of the MV Cartela. She is about to go into a specially made dry dock for further restoration before being reunited with her original steam engine.

I looked amongst my photos and discovered one I had forgotten about from 2009 when she was still based in Hobart. This was taken during the Wooden Boat Festival of that year. The interior photo two years later when we were fortunate enough to cruise on the Derwent with her.

Then she came down to Franklin via Port Huon in 2014. That is one of my favourite photos.

Recently while on our “Yukon” trip I was able to photograph Cartela from the other side.

I hope that I’ll be able to photograph her fully restored one day and enjoy a trip from Hobart to New Norfolk.

Snapshot Sunday: Fishing Vessels

We saw quite a few of these small vessels in the Straits of Malacca

I’ve been busy with doll posts today so here is a picture taken on holidays. We saw so much shipping in the Straits of Malacca but these small boats were some of the most interesting . I don’t know if they are actually for fishing but they would certainly be too small for anything more than local freight.

We are back!

Hi everyone, we are back from our cruise holiday although still recovering from it. In the three weeks since we left autumn has really begun in Tasmania and the clocks have been put back so it feels a lot different to when we left. We have a lot of photos to edit and Naomi has taken a lot of film which we also hope to share after she’s edited the various segments so there will be a series of posts about the cruise, the ship, the crew members and the places we visited over the next few months.

We will also be continuing with our search for a new home as I have a potential buyer for mine so forgive us if our posts are a bit all over the place. We’ll do our best to continue to post regularly as we prepare to move.

Snapshot Sunday:OOTS

I can’t wait for my holiday onboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas in April next year. Vanda and I will be sailing from Sydney to Singapore. It’s sure to be an amazing holiday. Ovation of the Seas was in Hobart last summer and I was lucky enough to get some photos while she was here.

Boats and Ships

I really love boats and ships especially cruise liners. Here are a few of my photos of them. They are taken in Hobart, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand. Explorer of the Seas will always remain close to my heart because of our wonderful holiday in 2016 so she has the proud honour of being my featured photo for this post.

How could I resist this challenge when ships and boats are some of my favourite photography subjects. Here are some I took on the Hobart Waterfront and at Franklin on the Huon River.
