Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Bathrooms & Outhouses

Mirror in the Bathroom

I’d love to have got some pictures of outdoor toilets, “dunnies” as Aussies call them. Don’t ask me why. I wasn’t born here.

Instead, here are some of my own bathroom when I was painting it a year or two ago and earlier after we had the new shower put in. We were so pleased with it.

Bathroom renovations

A modern bathroom in a Hobart apartment I visited as part of Open House Hobart a few years ago. I could not avoid getting myself in the picture.

My featured image is an edit of one I took for the doll blog some years ago. It was for Halloween and I was trying to recreate the old tale that if a girl brushed her hair in front of a mirror at midnight on Halloween she’d see the reflection of her future husband. The doll is a Fashion Fever Teresa (Barbie) and the sink and mirror are vintage Sindy ones which belong to Naomi.

Dunnies and More

Before planning some new photos I checked my files to see what bathroom photos I already had. Funny the things you randomly photograph isn’t it?

A couple of years ago our public toilets in Geeveston needed to be renovated so some local folk had the idea of having a fundraiser. They called it “Flushing Away Winter”. This right royal dunny was on display for photographs but thankfully not in service. (Dunny is Australian slang for toilet).

The “gold-plated” toilet

As I have been obsessively photographing all the improvements made around the house I had naturally taken a photo when the toilet was renovated. The grab rails were put in for David although sadly he never got to use them.

After renovation, new tiles and grab rails.

This loo with a view is on Explorer of the Seas on Deck 11 just outside the Windjammer Buffet. I was amazed that a bathroom would have such a great view.

This one was taken at Open House Hobart inside an apartment that was open to view.
