Thursday Doors: 26 September 2025

I managed to find the time to create a Thursday Doors post today. My first photo is of the front entrance of the Natural History Museum in London. I stopped to rest my feet here before visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum which is just down the road.

Here are a couple from Germany. A picturesque antique shop in Freiburg and one of the city trams.

Now for something completely different. This is a dollhouse I saw at the London Transport Museum. It was made by Triang. It was included in a display to show the style of housing opening up in the suburbs. Public transport made it easier for people to commute to the city. Naomi and I have several Triang dollhouses ourselves. The whole front of this model swings open like a door.

A vintage dollhouse featuring detailed rooms, including a living area with furniture and a bedroom. The house has an open side revealing its interior, showcasing small furnishings.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs,Teddy and Brodie and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly.

  1. What a lovely and varied collection. I love it! There are so many wonderful doors, I can’t pick a favorite, although I will say you started with a great photo. The dollhouse is amazing.

  2. What an interesting assortment of doors! My granddaughter was in Freiburg just last year for a semester of her junior year in college. A very memorable semester. As for that doll house, I’d have been immovable from it when I was a girl — it’s a beauty.
