CFFC: Time of Day- Evening

When does evening begin? In winter the sun sets earlier so 5pm could be considered evening. In summer it’s just late afternoon. After the sun has set it must be night, right?

Anyway, here are some pictures that were taken in the evening. The first one is in Sydney, I’m not sure how late it was but my caption said it was evening. I think we had just come back from a train trip, it was summer so it could have been as late as seven or even eight in the evening.

An empty hallway within a historic building, featuring arched ceilings illuminated with soft lighting and decorative architectural details. There are informational signs on yellow stands, and a person walking in the distance.

This next one I remember because I was rarely in Hobart this late in the day. On this occasion I’d been visiting David in hospital and caught a later bus than usual. It was autumn so probably definitely after five but before seven because there were no buses to Geeveston later than that. I always loved that big tree at the bus stop.

Evening again, very early spring so no Daylight Saving. It would have been sometime between five and seven in the evening I’d guess. This was my back garden in Geeveston. Sleet was falling and I was trying to capture a photo of it.

Walking Cindy in the early evening at Sisters Beach. It was probably around five, as in May it would be dark by six.

Finally, a couple of my old cricket photos. I often used to go to cricket matches at Bellerive Oval near Hobart. Matches were often played as day/night games starting mid afternoon or, for T20, early evening. This first one was taken at a game in December 2012. The following one was taken at a charity game in Launceston in 2017 which I went to with friends.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs,Teddy and Brodie and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly.
