The Garden Dawdler: by Earthly Comforts

Here are another 9 questions from Rory on a variety of subjects.

What is one of your deepest desires or fantasy?
[Inspired by Fantasy Island]

I guess my greatest fantasy is to win lotto and have enough money to do all the things on my travel bucket list and never have to worry about money again. Of course it would help if I bought a ticket once in a while.

I don’t have many of the large sized notes in my purse 🙂

When was the last time you used a pencil to write with?

I use a pencil to write on my freezer labels. I did that just the other day.

How tired are you daily, or do you get sufficient sleep to feel refreshed daily?

I have a bad habit of sitting up too late at night so I’m often tired, like now, but as I don’t have to get up at a set time most days I can always catch up. I don’t usually have trouble falling asleep.

How quick are you at making significant vital decisions?

I like to think things over before I make an important decision. I tend to go back and forth quite a lot before deciding unless it is time sensitive.

Do you use a brush or a comb with your hair or never do that and have a more natural look?

I use a comb every day. I would feel uncomfortable if I didn’t because my hair is very thick.

How many true friendships do you think you need?

I don’t think you can have too many or too few. Just as long as you have one.

How good is your memory, and how far back in your life can you go to remember moments with clarity?

My short term memory is about what you’d expect of someone of my age. I forget things sometimes. Names, places, what I went to the kitchen for, that sort of things. I don’t remember events in complete detail. I think of my brain as being like a hard drive that is nearly full and runs more slowly.

How do you keep yourself optimistic day to day?

I try not to obsess over the daily bad news we are bombarded with.

When did you last wander freely out and about with no set destination instead of walking purposefully? [A stroll with no clear A – B parameters]

I think that the last time I did that was probably when I was in Hobart in February. I set out for a walk around the Batter Point area and while I had a route in mind I did deviate if I saw an interesting building or a nice place to stop for a little rest.

Taswegian1957

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.
