It’s October and Melanie has chosen a spooky theme for the questions this week. Halloween is not such a big thing in Australia. Of course the stores promote it and many neighbourhoods set up safe trick or treating for kids but it’s not like in the USA, the way we see it on TV.
Favourite horror or Halloween-themed song? Or a song you rarely hear except around a holiday.
“The Monster Mash” is always good fun but although I wouldn’t really call it horror/Halloween themed my favourite is probably “The Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show
Do you ever see figures in your peripheral vision?
No, not really.
Which urban legend scares you the most? (most countries have such stories – share yours if you would like to)
I don’t know about urban legends but there is a station in the Sydney CBD which has some unused tunnels and they were used as the set for a horror movie called “The Tunnel”. The station is an old style station, a bit like the London Underground in some ways. Naomi and I have been there and when we think of that movie we don’t fancy being there late at night.
The Tunnel was filmed here in 2011. A film crew goes underground to investigate why homeless folk are going missing. The plot involves an emaciated humanoid, a monster in the lake and plenty of blood. The budget was $36,000 but it only grossed $1348. A box office bomb.https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/st-james-tunnels-the-set-of-a-horror-movie-30-metres-beneath-sydney-20161012-gs0ekg.html
You’re home alone but you hear footsteps in your house, what do you do?
If it’s night and I’m in bed I’m putting the covers over my head!
What is your favourite season?
That’s a tough one. It’s either spring or autumn. Right now it’s spring here and I’m loving all the spring bulbs especially the daffodils we had right at the beginning and now the tulips. However, I really love autumn in Tasmania. We have a proper autumn here , not like South Australia where summer seems to extend into winter. I really can’t pick.
