Share Your World 2022: 26 September

Yay, Melanie is back on deck with a new Share Your World. Many thanks to Di for holding the fort for the last few weeks.

QUESTIONS

Would you rather have no nose, or no arms? (apologies to Fandango, who is olfactory challenged)..

If by no nose you mean no sense of smell I would miss it but I’d miss the use of my arms more. If you mean literally no nose that would be a bit harder. I wouldn’t want to have to manage without arms but I’m vain enough not to want to go around without a nose.

What is your spirit animal?  (Mine –>    Lone of course    )

I have never even thought about finding out. However, in the interests of answering the question I went online to look for a quiz to take. I took four different ones and got two Owls, a cat and a wolf. I’m none the wiser.

Do you think cavemen had nightmares about cavewomen?

I’m sure they had nightmares but I think that their dreams would have been more about fierce creatures attacking them. Of course that might include cavewomen.

Where did the name Pina Colada come from?   (for those out of the know of foo-foo drinks, a ‘pina colada” is rum, pineapple and coconut juices and sometimes fancier liquor for a bigger kick (with a paper umbrella sometimes)      Since I dislike coconut except in the odd Mounds bar or on shrimp; I never had one.

I never had one either but I do remember the song that was very popular in the 80s. The drink originated in Puerto Rico so presumably it is a Spanish name. I looked it up and it literally means “strained pineapple” which doesn’t sound as good. I’d probably try one given the opportunity.

GRATITUDE SECTION

How thankful are you for good health, should you enjoy such a state of being?  (a bit close to home perhaps, sorry)

I am extremely thankful for my good health. I’ve been very lucky to never have a major illness or injury (touch wood). A few things are wearing out a bit but by and large I’m good.

Taswegian1957

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.

  1. Thanks Vanda for Sharing Your World and for the lovely email letters you sent! They were appreciated so much, as were the other two or three who wrote me during that stressful time. You really kept me going! 💕 That graphic of the owl is stunning! And since the owl is reputed to be wise, the cat instinctual and wolves are just plain cool, I’d say a nice mix like that is awesome!! I bet the cavewomen scared the spots off the cavemen’s tunics. 😅 Women aren’t to be messed with then or now! 🙂 I hope you get to try a pina colada once or, if you like the mixture, a few times. Just don’t get the Utah version (it’s ‘virgin’ – no alcohol). Have a splendid week my friend! 😀

    • We have owls locally but I haven’t been lucky enough to see one yet. They are cool birds.
I probably wouldn’t mind the virgin version of Pina Colada but the regular version would be more of a treat as I rarely drink these days. I hope to go on another cruise next year so maybe I will get the robot bartender on Ovation of the Seas to make me one.
