Share Your World 2022: 18 July

QUESTIONS

In one sentence, how would you sum up the internet?

The internet was once a novelty but it is now a necessity of modern life.

Is true beauty subjective or objective?

I think that it must be subjective because we are all different and we all have different ideas about what is beautiful.

How many chickens would it take to kill an elephant?  (like last week, I threw this one in for lightening things up a bit.  There is no ‘right or wrong ‘ answer – just have fun with it).

Well, I suppose that really depends on the size of the chicken doesn’t it? One giant cartoon style chicken, or rooster, would give an elephant a run for its money.

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would your five-year-old self do first?

Cry for mum I suspect, Wouldn’t you if you were a child and found yourself suddenly turned into an old lady?

GRATITUDE SECTION (AS ALWAYS, OPTIONAL)

What’s an aspect of your personality that you’re grateful for?

I’m grateful for the fact that I am rarely bored and that I can usually find pleasure in small things to distract me from the worries of the world.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.

  1. Thank you Vanda for Sharing Your World! For the 5 year old question, I would have answered (had I been doing it) “psychotic break”. I like your answer just as well, because the shock? Would be pretty horrific. I agree on the beauty question, standards of ‘beautiful’ differ from culture to culture too. That big bird would frighten me, I’m sure the elephant headed for the safety of the trees! And your internet answer was spot on. The other evening when my internet was down for a couple of hours really drove that home for me too. How addictive it’s turned out to be. Lovely thought on the gratitude portion as well! That is very satisfying! Have a great week!
