What very common thing have you never done? (this one probably is a recycle, but I don’t think it’s terribly recent?)
I was going to say driven a car but actually I have done that when I was taking lessons. That was over 35 years ago though. I have never smoked a cigarette. I don’t know that smoking is such a common thing these days but when I was young it certainly was. I was never tempted to stick a foul-smelling cigarette in my mouth.
Are we morally obligated to be charitable, if we have the means to?
That is a good question. I have always felt that if you have good fortune, you should give something back so if I had the means I would certainly be more charitable than I am. I do try to do the odd donation but if I were wealthy, I would give a lot more. So, yes, I do feel it is a moral obligation to help the less fortunate but I know that many people might not feel that way.
What is the most amazing fact you know?
Oh dear, another question that forces me to remember trivia. I don’t have that kind of brain any more, my hard drive has too much uncategorised stuff to pull out a specific fact at short notice. OK, one thing I do find amazing is the pyramids at Giza. Some of the stones used to build the Great Pyramid weighed from two to fifty tons. How on earth did they move them let alone lift them?
What’s your favorite sandwich and why?
I’m going to be very boring here and say that I like ham and cheese toasted sandwiches and if I’m making one at home that’s probably my first choice. I also enjoy a salad sandwich or roll with ham, egg, cheese, tomato and a little lettuce. I like the ham and cheese because apart from the fact that I like ham and cheese, it’s quick and easy to make. If I am buying a sandwich, I’m more likely to go for the salad roll.

Please feel free to share something you find inspires you.
This is not so much about inspiration but it is something that makes me happy because I love meeting visitors to our area and helping them.
I had some good news yesterday. I have not been able to attend my volunteer job at the Wynyard Visitor Centre for a couple of months because all the volunteers were suspended due to Covid. I have just learned that I’ll be able to go back next week. I’m looking forward to that. I missed being there.
