Sunday Poser #57

Here’s another Sunday prompt which of course I’m answering on Monday because Australia gets Monday earlier than Europe and the USA. This one is from Sadje at “Keep It Alive”.

The Question

We have two blogs. One is about dolls and it is called “Dolls, Dolls, Dolls” simply because I could not think of anything else at the time. It’s had that name for eight years so even though I don’t think it is a brilliant name I’m not changing it.

Some of my larger dolls.

This blog was originally known as “My Other Blog”. I called it that because I started it so that I could write about topics that had nothing to do with dolls. It was simply the “other” blog. Later, when Naomi started to blog with me, I changed it to “Our Other Blog”. Very simple really. A while back WordPress seemed to lose our blog. I think this was around the time that they stopped protecting blog titles so I added the tagline to the title “Two Sisters and Two Points of View” I hope that I won’t have to change it again. The ship pictured below is the one we came to Australia on in 1965-6 and it has always appeared on the blog in some form.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.

    • I remember that and I think it was you who pointed out that our blog had gone missing. Changing the name solved it as it did for you but it is still very annoying that WP let that happen to people with long time blogs.

  1. Thanks for sharing! I love your dolls. There are so many different types.
Losing a blog title must be so irritating. But I think this one is unique enough to stay.
