Sunday Ramble #1

E M Kingston has started a new Q&A prompt called Sunday Ramble so I thought I would join in this week to get the ball rolling. Here are her questions.

Would You Rather?

Would you rather be alone or be in a large group of people?

I don’t enjoy crowds. I didn’t even before Coronavirus. I never felt comfortable attending parties or events where there would be a lot of people I didn’t know, especially if it was going to be noisy and crowded. I prefer to socialise with a small group or just a couple of people but I am perfectly happy alone.

Would you rather live on the beach or live in the mountains?

This is a tough one for me. I love having mountains around. It’s one of the things I enjoy about living in Tasmania, the views of mountains in the distance. South Australia is largely flat. However, I’ve probably spent a large part of my adult life living near the beach and I love that too. So, I’d have to say that I’d probably prefer to be beside the seaside.

Would you rather tell people how you feel or keep your feelings to yourself?

I prefer to keep my feelings to myself although I don’t know that I am all that good of it. I might not say much but my face probably gives me away.

Would you rather be filthy rich or just live comfortably?

What I want is to live comfortably, not having to worry about bills, the cost of food and petrol or any of those things. I’d like to be able to buy new clothes without worrying about whether I can afford them or not, and when I feel it is safe to do so, I’d like to be able to go on holidays when I want to. I certainly don’t think being filthy rich would make me unhappy though. If fortune smiled on me and I won the lottery I’d still live the same way, comfortably but not ostentatiously. I would be able to do the things that I mentioned above, treat myself to some new toys like computer and camera equipment and vintage dolls. I’d also have money to help people and causes I cared about which I would do as anonymously as possible.

I don’t have many of the large sized notes in my purse 🙂

Would you rather watch a new movie at home or at the theatre?

I rarely went to the movies even before Covid. This was partly because living in the country there was no cinema I could easily get to and partly because there are not very many new movies I care about. I did go to the cinema in Burnie a couple of months ago to see the film about Aretha Franklin and I enjoyed that. It is nice to see a movie at a cinema sometimes. It’s an outing, and if you go to a matinee the theatre is not usually crowded. I don’t really watch movies on TV all that much anyway so if it is one that I am really keen to see I’d probably rather go to the cinema to see it.

Taswegian1957

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.

  1. Hi Taswegian! It’s nice to meet you, and thank you for joining in on the Rambles! I am another one that my face tells on me when it comes to my feelings. My daughter will laugh at me because she says “Momma, your face said differently than what came out of your mouth” lol. You and I are alike in social situations. I am not a fan of a crowd unless I choose to be there, like music festivals…even then I am not sure anymore. Covid triggered my Bipolar social anxiety really bad. I love the picture of the beach! Beautiful! It sounds like where you live is gorgeous. I’ve also never seen Australian money, so that was really cool! Our money is not near as beautiful in America. I really enjoyed your post, and I look forward to blogging with you! Thanks!!!

      • It’s beautiful money. You have so many pretty colors. I think the only one that has a little bit of color is the 100 dollar bill, but it’s pretty much all the same colors.
