QUESTIONS

How many pillows do you sleep with?  If over one or two, is it because you sleep better ‘propped up’ a little?

Currently I am only using one. I have tried two. Finding the perfect pillow is never easy, is it? I have tried sleeping a little propped up when congestion has made breathing difficult but as I like to have my shoulders undercover in cool weather it doesn’t really work well for me.

What would be the worst thing you could put in a piñata?

I know what these are although I’ve never been to a party where they had them. I’m sorry to say that the first thing that came to mind was poo.

What noise annoys you the most?

Millennial music is right up there. A lot of current pop music seems to be whiny love songs that all sound the same to me. Or the other kind of noisy music, the kind when your neighbours throw a party and play music so loud you can hear it inside your house but it’s just a dull “doof, doof, doof” with no discernable tune for several hours. (Yes, our across the road neighbours did this last weekend.)

If cartoon physics suddenly replaced real physics, what are some things you would want to try?

Some people who obviously have too much time on their hands have written quite a lot about cartoon physics including this “Amendment” It would be a pretty handy to have a bag like that.

Cartoon Law Amendment F

Any bag, sack, purse, etc. possessed by a character is a tesseract – any number of objects of any size may be placed in it or removed from it with no change in its outer dimensions.

As a kid I always thought that the portable hole would be a cool thing to have. It would still be something I’d like to have. Apart from escaping from inconvenient situations it would be very handy for gardening, doing away with all that tiresome digging when you wanted to plant something. Invisibility could be fun to try as well.

GRATITUDE SECTION (as always, OPTIONAL)

Please share something good that has happened to you over the past month.

I was very pleased to be complimented on my work at the Visitor Centre where I volunteer once a week. It’s nice to know that I’m doing a good job and that it is appreciated.

Recently I wrote about going to Oatlands to get Naomi’s house ready for sale. I’m pleased to say that she has had an offer on it already so we’re hoping that it will turn into a sale very soon.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.

  1. Thanks, Vanda, for Sharing Your World! What great news to start off the holiday season! 🙂 Congratulations to both of you! Your pillow looks very comfy, it’s the sort that one could surely find a spot that was a very comfortable position for them to sleep! I liked your thoughts on ‘cartoon’ physics. Very creative and so useful too! And I’m thinking that a lot of people will think the way you did about the pinata. It’s sort of obvious, if sort of nasty too. Have a great week! 🙂

  2. That sounds like a great bag to have, but I want CLOSETS like that. Moreover, I want the item I’m looking for to pop to the front and not hide way in the back where I’ll never find it. Oh to have those closets!

  3. I do agree with what you said about pop music. And you’re actually right… it doesn’t just sound the same, very often it is the same. They re-use the same and similar chord patterns over and over again.
