Share Your World 2021: 13 September

QUESTIONS

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

I probably will have said more than I’ve done.

What does the world need less of?

Haters.

Do you feel older or younger than your age?

My question is how old am I supposed to feel? I don’t know what someone of my age (64) is supposed to feel like. My body definitely feels older. I can’t do things I used to do like getting up from a kneeling position and I have to rest my back after I’ve vacuumed. However, in my head I feel more or less the same as I always have. I know I’m older and have more life experience but I don’t feel a lot different. Just sometimes I think “I have more years behind me than I have to come.”

What is a cause you’ll always passionately support?

Well passionately, I feel strongly about several things but my support is more in the nature of sharing information on social media and the occasional donation. Animals of course. I hate to hear of animals being mistreated. They can’t speak for themselves so we have to speak for them. I have never dyed my hair because I hated the idea of animals being hurt for my vanity. I try to use cruelty free products and I support bans on live animal exports and horse and dog racing. I also want to see the habitats of our endangered animals protected.

I wish we lived in a world where people were treated fairly, had their basic needs met and didn’t need to live in fear. There are so many causes dedicated to those goals and I can’t support them all financially or even physically but I do what I can.

GRATITUDE SECTION (as always, optional)

What is your personal affirmation if you have one?   (for this instance “affirmation means emotional support or encouragement.” )

I don’t have one. I’ve never really felt the need to have one although I know that many people find they help a lot. I went looking for some definitions to make sure I understood what was meant by having an affirmation and found this link which I’ll share here.

Taswegian1957

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.

  1. Thanks for Sharing Your World, Vanda! That link led to a lovely list of affirmations that I enjoyed reading, plus it gives a wonderful perspective. Thanks for sharing that! 🙂 I’d quibble a little with your first answer. Obviously you do what you can, which is more than many can claim. You act on your passions by sharing them and the cause(s) with which they are linked. Is that picture of the little animal of a Tasmanian Devil? Aren’t they becoming endangered now? Thanks for the photos (all of them) which show your compassion towards mankind! Have a great week! 😀
