This week Dr Tanya asks us to comment on the statement above. My answer is that I do agree with the first part but I feel that the second part is rather ambiguous.
I’m not the most prolific blogger. I can’t produce several posts a day. I don’t even post every day. A lot of my posts are in response to photo challenges and there is not a lot of written content. I also respond to a few Q&A challenges that I enjoy. However, although I could find many more of these to give me material for posts I would get rather bored if that was all I did. I don’t think that they would be very interesting for people to read because my answers are basically the same. So I’d rather do the few challenges I enjoy and post at other times when there is something that I want to talk about. That means something that interests me. After all if I find my content boring then I’m sure others will too.
Now, as for publishing smart what does that mean exactly? I suspect, if it was written by a business blogger, that it means write posts that are full of keywords and SEO and that type of thing to attract more readers or to make your “brand” more prominent in the marketplace. That’s all very well for people who are publicising their goods or services but I don’t want my blog to become a sausage factory churning out material because it might appeal to a certain demographic. I’m not a business, I’m just me sitting at my computer, in my dressing gown sometimes, writing about the things that matter to me. That’s all I want to be. That’s why I would be no good at blogging for money. I don’t want to write about things I don’t consider interesting.
I notice that the quote doesn’t mention anything about good writing unless that is what is meant by smart but somehow I don’t think it is.
