This week I’m answering another of Dr Tanya’s questions for bloggers.
TODAY’S QUESTION
How do you see yourself primarily, as a writer or a blogger, and is there a difference?
I see myself as a blogger rather than a writer. Why? I feel that I lack the creativity and maybe the passion to be a real writer.
I don’t have the imagination to write fiction or poetry. If writing had become my profession I probably would have made a better journalist, dealing with facts rather than fiction.
I think that I am probably more of a diarist though. When I was young I had penfriends in different parts of the world and I used to write them long letters about what I had been doing, my opinions about certain subject and descriptions of what it was like to live in Australia. My blogging style is a lot like that I think.
I imagine that a writer feels compelled to write. Bloggers want to communicate too but perhaps it’s not the consuming passion in their lives. Unless they are business bloggers trying to make a living but that’s different too I think. Sometimes I do get an overwhelming urge to write about a subject but mostly I find that certain subjects are fun and easy to write about and others are not. If you gave me a topic I had no interest in the blank screen would look very intimidating and I would probably just skip it.

That’s pretty interesting how you make that distinction. For me, anyone who writes is a writer, yourself included. Anyway, thanks for this post!
