QUESTIONS

Would you rather be a super nice person and be depressed all your life, or be happy and a total *sshole?  (Credit goes to Cyranny for this question, aired on one of her “Cyranny’s Quickies” posts.)

Well. ideally I’d like to be somewhere in between. Being a you know what does not give me pleasure. I’d rather be nice but I wouldn’t want to go through my whole life depressed so if it was a black and white choice I’m putting me first.

Have you ever made someone cry?.

Yes.

Are you a dreamer or a go-getter?

I am definitely a dreamer.

If you were in a band, what instrument would you play?

Keyboards, piano. I would like to have learned. I tried to learn guitar when I was young but it hurt my fingers.

GRATITUDE SECTION

Do you feel gratitude is necessary?

I think it is important, at least for me. It reminds me that there are good things in my life and that many others are worse off. I don’t know if I would say necessary. That makes me feel like people should be forced to be grateful and I don’t think it works like that. You can’t tell people what to feel.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.

  1. Thank you for Sharing Your World Vanda! It’s true that one can’t force someone to feel grateful nor should that be the point. Gratitude comes from the heart as you’ve shown! Great answer! I’d have liked to learn piano too, but as a youth didn’t have the patience. I’ve heard that the guitar is rough on the fingers until you get callouses. Takes patience I guess. I hope you have a great week!
