QUESTIONS:

What’s a relationship deal breaker for you?

Somebody trying to control me, especially now I’m older. I’m not prepared to be told what I should like or dislike, what I should wear or how I should act. Another deal breaker would be not accepting my pets.

Do you believe in extra-terrestrials?

Yes, I think that we would be very arrogant to think we were the only intelligent beings in the universe, especially given that we’re a pretty dumb lot anyway. Of course I don’t think that all aliens would look like us physically or even that they think the same way. Different planets would have different requirements for survival and life could evolve in many different ways.

In the morning, do you hit the snooze button on your alarm (sometimes repeatedly) or do you leap out of bed, ready to face the day?

I am in the fortunate position of not having to even set an alarm very often. I don’t leap out of bed, leaping gets harder when you wake up a bit stiff in the mornings. If I wake up earlier than I feel I need to get up I do enjoy laying in bed listening to the radio for a while or reading.

If you came back in the next life as an animal, which animal would you choose to be?  (and even if you don’t believe in that, let’s suspend belief for a moment just to have a little fun)

I don’t think that I would like to come back as any animal given that they have little control over their lives and are likely to be abandoned, abused or eaten. However, just for fun, I’d say a cat. Pet cats have it pretty good. They have their human staff to take care of their needs and are not expected to perform tricks or in any way earn their keep. They can ignore us and we are grateful for a crumb of attention from them.

GRATITUDE (Participation is always optional)

What do you plan to work on this year to make it better than last year  (personal goals, physically or mentally, or all three)?

I want to get my dolls all out on display again. I want to plant some flowers that I chose in the garden. I want to take more photos more often and if it is possible to manage a few outings on my own like I used to.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.

  1. I seem to have missed that last question. Oops. How is it going? Are they vaccinating people down your way? It’s going TERRIBLY slowly up here and everyone seems to be sick except us. Hope you and Naomi are having fun together.

    • No they are not vaccinating anyone here yet. They tell us that we won’t have the vaccine rolled out till about March when all the testing procedures are done. We have been having fun despite Naomi getting a cold and kindly passing it on to me. It is a cold. She got hers after getting caught in the rain walking the dogs last week. Neither of us have had colds for a couple of years but luckily they have been fairly mild. We are still functional.
