Today, Dr Tanya at Salted Caramel asks us about our user names.
TODAY’S QUESTIONS:
Do you use your own name for blogging?
I don’ t use my own name as part of our blog title but it is visible on both of them. I have a Gravatar profile in the sidebar which shows my first name. I use my own name on Facebook which means that I’m easily found. Quite a lot of bloggers who I follow or who follow me know me by my first name and I am fine with that. As I ‘ve often posted pictures of my house on this blog I’m sure anyone who wanted to could find out everything about me anyway.
If you use a psuedonym, what are your reasons for this and what led you to choose that particular name?
When I started to blog I was a bit shy to use my own name and felt more comfortable with a pseudonym. I picked Taswegian1957 as it refers to where I live and the year I was born.
Is there an interesting story behind your User Name?
Not really, I just wanted to have something that felt relevant and was easy to remember, especially easy for ME to remember. I have an eBay user name too, Sadieinoz1957, which I picked for similar reasons. Sadie refers to the fact that I was working as a cleaner in 1998 when I joined eBay. (After a song called “Sadie the Cleaning Lady”), oz is Australia of course and again my year of birth because I am not shy about my age.
Interesting question. Mine is the title of my book, the 12-Foot Teepee. It isn’t going to make me rich or become a TV series, so it might as well live on as my username.
