The Borrowers is a book written by Mary Norton about a family of tiny people who lived in an old house and borrowed everything they needed from humans. I think that The Borrowers live with me now.
Ever since I moved to this house household items have been disappearing. Not things that were lost in the move, things that I had when I got here and now I don’t have.
There was the little plastic gizmo that threaded my measuring cups on. I haven’t seen it for months. Where did it go? It is of no earthly use for anything else.
Then a couple of weeks ago the cork coaster that belongs with my glass coffee maker. I had it when I stored it in the kitchen cupboard. Now it’s gone.
I went to my household basket where I store cleaning cloths and the like. I had a nice Norwex rubber bristled brush. I usually keep it in there. It wasn’t there today.
Where are all these things going. OK I know I can be absent minded. I plead guilty to leaving my watch in my dressing gown pocket for over a week. But these things all belong in the kitchen and two of them belong with specific items. It has to be The Borrowers doesn’t it?
I hear you!! 🙂

So this morning my shopping arrived and I had a big bag of self raising flour that had split a little. No probelm because I have special container for each kind of flour. Except, where is the damn thing. Normally when it’s empty it gets washed and put back on the shelf. Hoping it’s downstairs from when Naomi baked the other week otherwise The Borrowers have been at it again.
I put the damaged bag in my vintage Nally flour container which was fortunately empty.

It is definitely the Borrowers. I loved those books as a child.

Now a little snack tray has disappeared. Either there is a whole tribe of them here or I am losing my mind.

I found the tray hiding in the sink under some other plates. I’m afraid I may have thrown my flour container into the recycling bin so will have to check that out.

At such times, my family tells me to slow down. Maybe that could work for you? 🙂
