Share Your World 2019: 22 September

QUESTIONS:

When was the last time you face palmed?

Honestly, I really don’t take notice of things like that. I may have done it over the past few days, certainly I mentally do it anytime I hear the ridiculous things that come out of politicians mouths.

When is censorship warranted?  Ever?

That is such a big question to answer. There are a great many things that are allowed in public now that I don’t particularly want to see but if we are talking mainly about books, plays, films and ideas, in general, I’d say that I don’t think it is wrong to censor hate speech in any form.

If there were commandments for the modern-day world, what should (could, would) some of them be?  Get creative!

  • The mobile phone is a false god. Do not worship it.
  • If God had intended the whole world to be grey He wouldn’t have created colours. Do not decorate houses totally in grey.
  • If you are fortunate enough to have the right to vote don’t waste it.
  • Be kind to animals.
  • Do not destroy the Earth.

What did you Google last?

I spent quite a lot of time on Sunday Googling information about Paddington Bear for a post I was writing for our Teddy Bear blog.

Born in England in 1957 my family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. David passed away in 2015 and I'm here on my own now but I have Cindy the dog and Polly the cat to keep me company. I currently co-write two Wordpress blogs with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania.

  1. Thanks Vanda for Sharing Your World. That bear is DARLING!! ❤ And while gray isn't a good 'look' for a house (I agree fully with you there), neither is hot neon pink, green or orange. I mean seriously? 😐

    1. I do agree, Naomi and I call those multi coloured houses “clown houses”. What I hate is that if you look at real estate ads it is like every home has been decorated by the same person. Grey walls, grey carpet, grey curtains, grey furniture. It is too depressing for words and in the case of an older house it washes out all the character the house had.
