Share Your World 2018: 9 September

Sharing My World This Week

Are You A Better Listener or Speaker?

I would be a hopeless public speaker although I am fine with people I know and better than I used to be with strangers but probably still a better listener.

If You Were Asked To Design A Warning Label That Would Be Tattooed On Your Skin, What Would It Say?

WARNING: Grumpy Old Lady

However, as I think tattoos are ugly I probably would not actually have it done.

What Are You Passionate About?

A lot of things, cruelty to animals, lack of compassion by governments towards the poor, displaced and disadvantaged. Developers who build ugly buildings and people who take a lovely old house and renovate all the personality out of it. Modern pop culture (I hate it with a passion), excessive use of social media. Shall I go on? I said I was turning into a grumpy old lady.

If You Could Change One Thing About Your World, What Would It Be?

In my own personal world if I could change just one thing I think I’d like most not to have the aches and pains that mean I can’t sit on the floor any more, that if I get down on my knees I know I’m going to have trouble getting back up again and that standing for too long is likely to give me a back ache or sore feet.

And Finally:

What Gave You A Reason To Smile This Past Week?

On Saturday Naomi and I had fun taking photos for our doll blog together and today I went to the campaign launch of a friend who is running for the local council elections for the first time.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.

  1. Great answers! Thank you for participating too! You’re certainly not alone in the “Grumpy Old Lady” club…that photo of that horrid looking building? I fully agree…no form, no function…what’s the purpose?? 🙂
