Share Your World 2018 – 27 August

Sharing My World This Week

Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts?

I like nuts but I really don’t have a preference one way or the other. If they are there I eat them. If they aren’t I don’t miss them.

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?

My closet is an old fashioned wooden wardrobe. In winter the doors can get a bit hard to shut so sometimes I may sleep with one half open but generally I think it is neater to have closet doors shut when it is not being used. If I had a built in wardrobe the doors would be shut.

My old wooden wardrobe.

Are you usually late, early, or right on time?

These days my schedule often revolves around bus timetables or being picked up by friends. I don’t like to keep people waiting so I make sure I am ready to be picked up on time. I go to the bus stop early, even though the bus is always late. My “on time” is usually five or ten minutes earlier than I need to be there. I am always at airports ridiculously early. If I know I will be late I let people know so they are not hanging around waiting for me.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

The doll show! We went to the doll show on Sunday and I always love going there.

Later, at Bunnings, a nearby hardware store we saw some really cute dogs being wheeled around in trolleys.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.
