Sharing My World This Week

Since we are approaching the hottest part of our summer in the northern hemisphere, what’s your favourite ice-cream, frozen yogurt or sorbet flavour?  (Those of you who live down under I’m sure you remember what it is like in the hot summer months).

Even in winter an ice cream can be a nice treat. You can’t buy it here but I loved Golden North honey ice cream from South Australia.

Other flavours I like are boysenberry, custard and Old English toffee.

I like frozen yoghurt too and am quite happy to have that in vanilla. Lemon is also very refreshing.

How often do you people watch?

There are not an awful lot of people to watch around here and I know a lot of them so it’s something that I’m more likely to do on holidays or at an event where there is a crowd. Naomi and I have a game version of people watching that we often play when we are sitting waiting for something to happen. One of us will pick out a random person and the other has to find them in the crowd. We started playing this as teenagers long before we’d heard of “Where’s Wally?”

If you had a choice which would be your preference salt water beaches, fresh water lakes, ocean cruise, hot tub, ski resort or desert?

I like all waterside locations, the sea, a river or a lake. A cruise is a great way to enjoy the ocean but a walk on the beach; especially in cooler weather is nice too. I’m just happy when I can see the water. It’s one of the things I like best about Tasmania, there are so many rivers and lakes but I do miss the ocean as we lived in a beach side suburb in Adelaide.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Naomi brought her new dolls house round to show  me on Saturday. It’s a Triang CEX from the 1950s. I brought the other Triang house out into the kitchen from the doll room so we could photograph them side by side.  Aren’t they beautiful?

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.

  1. Sorry but NewZealand ice cream is the best ice cream in the world and I have tried a lot of different ice creams.
