Share Your World 2018 – 2 July

Sharing My World This Week

Tell us about your first bicycle or car?

As I never learned to drive or ride a two-wheeler my bicycle memories are of tricycles. The first one I had as a child was red with a yellow seat from memory. When I outgrew it Naomi had it and I had a larger one that had a carrier at the back. I don’t think I have a photo of me on either of them but here is Naomi on my “big” tricycle.

Naomi aged around four I think, on my tricycle.

What fictional world or place would you like to visit?

I absolutely have to agree with you on Stars Hollow. I always think what a great little town it is.

If you could have someone follow you around all the time, like a personal assistant, what would you have them do?

  • Drive me to the places I need or want to go to although as I hate making people wait for me I’m not sure how well that would work out.
  • Make me a cuppa when I am tired and don’t want to get up and make it myself
  • Brush the dog hair off me before I go out.
  • I’d like to say do the housework but that’s not really what PA’s do is it?

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination

A friend of mine just officially retired and his wife decided to give him a surprise birthday dinner at the local hotel.  It all went off successfully, he was totally surprised and seven of us had a nice meal together.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.

  1. Wasn’t I just too cute when I was little? Yes we had great fun with the trikes. I remember when Vanda got the tricycle. It came in a huge box from Manchester. The tricycle was christened Chester. It was chain driven and I was small enough to sit behind Vanda on the carrier at first. In the photo shown I would be quite young I think as I could barely reach the pedals to make the bike go.
