Sharing My World This Week

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

First of all I’m happy that I have special people in my life both near and far. Naomi of course, David’s family back in South Australia who are now my family, friends in the local community and others who live further away but keep in regular touch. I also count my fellow bloggers as friends as we share so much in our posts.

I’m also happy that I have hobbies and interests that keep me well occupied so I am never bored or lonely.

Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewellery?

I remember the pet rock craze and thought it was a bit silly but I do like interesting rocks and pretty coloured crystals and gemstones. I have a few at home.

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger?

Generally I am a non-hugger. I will do it when greeting family and close friends, especially those I don’t often see but I don’t really like being hugged by casual acquaintances as I like my space.

I am not usually a hugger.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Whenever I am at the Op Shop I am always inspired by my friend and co-worker Karen. She is so enthusiastic and full of ideas to improve the look of the shop and to find ways to do a better job that I am always carried along with them.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband, David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. Currently we have five pets between us. Naomi's two dogs Toby and Teddy and cats, Tigerwoods and Panther and my cat Polly. My dog Cindy passed away aged 16 in April 2022.
