Share Your World 2018 – 1 January 2018

Sharing My World This Week

A new year and here I am sharing my world with you all again.

What one word describes you best?

Practical is a word I have heard used about me and I think that is pretty accurate.

What is set as the background on your computer?

On my desktop where I like to do most of my blogging is a picture of the Huon River Bridge at Huonville. My laptop has a picture of Ovation of the Seas as its opening screen and the background picture is currently a Green Rosella that was in my garden.

If you have been to a foreign country name those you have been too?

  • New Zealand
  • China
  • Hong Kong (when it was a separate colony)
  • USSR (as it was in 1990) Would now be Siberia and Russia
  • Scotland
  • Wales
  • England (only foreign in the respect that I don’t live there any more)

Mongolia and The Netherlands don’t count as getting off a train and then leaving again is not visiting.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

During the Christmas to New Year break my friend Karen and her husband went in to the Op Shop and he built us some new shelves. We have been inspired to give the place a revamp moving things around to try to create more space and easier access to goods. First on the list was our craft supplies area which has been a horrible mess for a long time. It looks so much nicer with everything arranged nicely in tubs or on shelves that I could not stop looking at it.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.
