Share Your World 2017- Week #49

Sharing My World This Week

This week Cee’s internet woes continued and she was unable to post her SYW questions so Laura from “Riddle from the Middle” stepped up and I decided to post my answers as usual.

Is your second toe longer than your big toe?

No. My toes are regular length.

What happens when the dogs dream?

Dogs are hilarious to watch when they dream. Cindy always runs and sometimes barks in her sleep. She loves to chase balls so I’m guessing that’s what she dreams about or maybe something more exciting. She chased a wallaby once when she was a young dog so perhaps she chases them all the time when she sleeps.

Let sleeping dogs lie.

What’s on your closet floor right now?

I don’t have a walk in closet. I have an old fashioned wooden wardrobe. What’s on the floor of it? At the moment a couple of Christmas presents waiting to be wrapped. Usually  there is also a box containing shoes. It’s too small to put much else in there.

Name five books on your bookshelf.

I actually have four book cases in the house and boxes of books packed away. Here’s a random sample from one bookcase. A couple of them were David’s but I have read them all.

A good read
  • “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen
  • “The Russia House” by John Le Carre
  • “Matthew Flinders’ Cat” by Bryce Courtenay
  • “The Cuckoo’s Egg” by Clifford Stoll
  • “Stone of Destiny” by Ion Idriess

Name something that inspired you this week.

I am not a person who really goes around looking for inspiration and I always find this question quite hard to answer as the things I appreciate from week to week are always the same. My home,  the beauty in nature, the antics of birds and animals and kind acts by others are always on my list.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.
