Share Your World 2017 – Week #30

Sharing My World This Week

If you had to have your vision corrected would you rather: glasses or contacts? Or what do you use if you need to have your vision corrected?

I have worn glasses since I was a young teenager. I could have had contacts when I was old enough but I have never liked the idea of putting something in my eyes either.

Are you more of a dog person or a cat person?

I think I am really both. I love dogs; they are like four-legged people but a lot less critical and always funny. On the other hand cats have such interesting personalities too. When I watch cats stalking something, even a toy, I can see their wild ancestors in them. It is always such a privilege when your cat wants to sleep on your lap especially if they are very independent like Polly.

If you were to buy a new house/apartment what is the top three items on your wish list?

Naomi and I have been discussing selling both our houses and buying one together. As much as I love my house it just would not work for the two of us.

The house we will buy would have to have numerous rooms with storage areas for our collections of dolls, teddies, toys and vintage household items not to mention our arts and crafts materials.

It would have to have access to public transport as although I know Naomi would drive me anywhere I needed to go I like to be independent and have the means to get around by myself if I want to.

It would have to have a secure garden for our three dogs and three cats to play in, a sunny spot for us to sit outside and a sheltered patio or veranda for the less pleasant days.

It is a long, long wish list for both of us but those are the deal breakers. Here are just a very few of the things we need to find room for.

What inspired you this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

This morning I read an article about “Empathy Cards” I had not heard of this idea before but I  think they are great. Telling someone who is grieving that everything happens for a reason is right up there with “money can’t buy happiness” in my opinion. (Money may not buy happiness but   if you are homeless, sick or in debt it certainly doesn’t hurt.)

These messages inspire me to think more about how I can support people I know when they are doing it tough.

Born in England in 1957 my family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. David passed away in 2015 and I'm here on my own now but I have Cindy the dog and Polly the cat to keep me company. I currently co-write two Wordpress blogswith my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and a "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania.
