Share Your World 2017- Week #19

Sharing My World This Week

How many languages do you speak?

In high school I studied French and German for two years but as I never used either language after that they are long forgotten. Now I only speak Australian/British English.

What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating?

Not necessarily right at this moment but currently.

  • Reading: The Mayor of Casterbridge
  • Watching: Great British Railway Journeys and other railway related documentaries and “The Games” a satirical comedy about the 2000 Olympics made in the late 1990s.
  • Listening to: ABC Classic FM in the mornings and sometimes hits of the 70s in the evening if I am fed up with television. I often prefer silence when I am at home so I can hear the birds.
  • Eating: My breakfast toast.

Games, The - Series 1 & 2

What was the last photo you took with your phone?

My phone is not a smart phone and I find it fiddly to use it for photography although I often use the tablet. Last picture on my phone was of a dead rose bush in my garden to show the garden shop to get a replacement.

What is your favourite time of day?

That’s a tricky one. I am more productive in the mornings and I like looking outside and seeing a bright blue sky and the sun shining but of course that does not always happen. I also like afternoons. I get home from the Op Shop around 3:30 pm and I like the hour or so before I start making dinner when I relax with a cup of coffee, play with Cindy, sit outside if it is nice weather or catch up with reading a few blogs.

It’s nice to relax in the garden with coffee and a snack.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week I decided to empty my filing cabinet ready to be moved out of the room which is to be painted. I packed all the contents into three boxes and in the process I found my passport which I had not seen for a while. I knew it ought not be lost but I was anxious about where it was so grateful to have found it again.

This week I have the painter coming to work on rooms which I cannot paint myself so I will have at least one done by the end of the week I hope. It is my birthday on Saturday and we are celebrating with a dinner with my friends from the Op Shop on Friday night. Naomi will come and join us and she and I will go out to lunch on Saturday. My last two birthdays were not the best and this one is the big 60 so I’m celebrating it in style.

Born in England in 1957 my family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. David passed away in 2015 and I'm here on my own now but I have Cindy the dog and Polly the cat to keep me company. I currently co-write two Wordpress blogswith my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and a "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania.
