Share Your World 2017 – Week #18

Sharing My World This Week

When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?

It depends on the weather and what I will be doing. I do like to go barefoot but I don’t like to walk on gravel or bare earth without shoes so I’m more likely to wear slippers with the addition of socks if it is cool.

What was your favorite food when you were a child?

Steamed pudding with golden syrup on top.

Steamed sponge puddings (6974080371)

Are you a listener or talker?

I would say listener but it could depend on who I am with. I talk a lot more when I’m with just one person than in a group I think. I probably talk to people more now because I am living alone and most of my conversations with Cindy and Polly are a bit one-sided.

Favorite thing to (pick one):  Photograph?  Write? Or Cook?

Definitely not cook. When I haven’t taken any photos for a while I feel frustrated. I do like to write but photography is what I love the most.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I finally managed to get my kitchen painted. I spent Saturday and Sunday doing it and am proud that I did not need any help even for the tricky bit above the window over the kitchen sink where I had to climb onto the counter to reach. A friend kindly did the ceiling for me a couple of weeks ago.

This week will be a normal one with Op Shop and catching up with chores. I will work at the Op Shop on Saturday. We don’t normally open Saturday but have started to once a month for people who can’t come during the week. We have Mother’s Day gifts for sale so hope we will have a good day.

Another angle of my newly repainted kitchen. The window you can just see on the extreme right is the one I had to climb on the counter to reach.

Born in England in 1957 my family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. David passed away in 2015 and I'm here on my own now but I have Cindy the dog and Polly the cat to keep me company. I currently co-write two Wordpress blogswith my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and a "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania.
