Share Your World: Ribbonrx Edition: April 3, 2017 (Week #13)

Sharing My World This Week

I missed my Tuesday morning pondering the Share Your World questions but luckily we have a guest writer, Ribbonrx, this week.

What’s something you like to do the old-fashioned way?

I had to think about this because I think I am pretty old school in my likes and dislikes but what do I actually do the old fashioned way? Banking? No. I do that online. Paying bills? Ditto.

I know, I will not under any circumstances use those automated check outs at stores. I go to a checkout with a real person to pay for my goods.

What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?

I have always enjoyed travel books especially those with a humorous style. I enjoy biographies but I do read some fiction as well. I don’t really watch a lot of movies especially modern ones. If I have a favourite genre it is probably Christmas movies. I love a sentimental Christmas movie or a classic like “Miracle on 34th Street” and “A Christmas Carol”.

How often do you people watch?

Not very often these days as I’ve become a bit of a homebody lately but I especially love to do it at the  theatre or some other crowded place. Naomi and I even made a game out of it. We would arrive early and take it in turns to challenge each other to find a particular member of the audience. A person with a cast on his or her leg, someone in a brightly coloured shirt, a celebrity look-alike. It was our own personal game of “Where’s Wally (Waldo)? and it kept us occupied till the lights dimmed.

What have you only recently formed an opinion about?

I can’t think of anything in particular. Most things I see these days reinforce the opinions that I already had.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week Naomi came to visit and brought a heap of things for me to photograph and write about for my doll blog, not the least of which was the Triang Model 61 dolls house. The rest of this week will be a normal week with household chores, Op Shop and blogging but that’s fine. We can’t have excitement every week.

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.
