Share Your World – 2017 – Week #7

Sharing My World This Week

When you cut something with scissors, do you move your jaw (as if you were about to chew)?

I  have no idea but now I’m going to be thinking about it every time I cut things.

A few pairs of scissors.
A few pairs of scissors.

Do you chew your pens and pencils?

I can remember doing this from time to time when I was younger and wrote in longhand more often but I don’t think I have done it for a long time.

Are you a collector of anything?  If so what?

As most people know I collect dolls of all kinds. Fashion dolls both modern and vintage and larger dolls mainly from my childhood era the 1960s but a few that are older and a few from later periods. I’ve also recently acquired a doll’s house so now I’ll be collecting furniture for it and dolls to live there. I have collections of other things in my house too. David’s vintage cameras, ornaments like mum’s  china monkey collection and of course books, vinyl records, CD’s and DVD’s although I don’t really regard these as  collections in the hobby sense. There are many things that I wish I had room to collect more of such as art glass. I have some nice ruby glass, Depression glass and carnival glass but no room to display more.

What size is your bed?

My bed is a king sized bed which David and I bought a few years ago after he broke the frame of the queen sized one we had for the third time. I was finding myself with less than half the bed as David was a big man and I am not small. The king was roomy enough for the two of us. Now it is ridiculously large and I have bought a single bed which I will eventually move into after the decorating is finished. I will probably then sell the king sized bed and get something else for the occasional overnight guest.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I had a nice lunch with friends last Sunday at a local café. It is always nice to catch up and the conversation is always good.

Painting is progressing, hindered by some fairly ordinary weather at times. The handyman started work repairing the windows, the pest control man came and sprayed for spiders and the vet came to vaccinate Cindy and Polly so it was a fairly full week. This week I am expecting to see more progress which is good even though it means staying home a lot.

Born in England in 1957 my family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. David passed away in 2015 and I'm here on my own now but I have Cindy the dog and Polly the cat to keep me company. I currently co-write two Wordpress blogswith my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and a "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania.

  1. By the way, thank you for alerting me to another way to look at WordPress, through the reader rather than with email. Yes, much better. You know, I knew there was a “Reader” but I had gotten in the habit of looking at posts through email. Oh, this is so much better, because I can scan the posts and choose the ones I am in the mood to read. I am wondering where is your doll wordpress site?
