Share Your World – 2017 – Week #3

Sharing My World This Week

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?

I have an old wooden wardrobe and the doors don’t close as well as they used to so usually one is open.

Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel?

I have done it, judging from the number of them I used to find when cleaning hotel rooms I think most people do. I don’t bother much now. I don’t need them. If I’m in a hotel for a night or two I’ll use them but if I am away from home longer I usually bring my own shampoo anyway.

What is your usual bedtime?

I’m almost embarrassed to say that I usually tend to sit up pretty late and 1:30 am is not unusual for me. It would be very unusual for me to go to bed before 11pm. I think this stems from my working years when I was determined to have some “me time”. I did not want my life to just be eating, sleeping, working,  and doing chores. The more I disliked my job the later I sat up.

Do you like to use post-it notes?

I don’t usually have them at home but I think they are handy things to use.

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?

Last year some time, a friend from Adelaide reminded me how many letters I used to write and asked me to write to her the old way. I have to admit that while I don’t mind writing letters I would rather type them because my handwriting is bad and that these days I really prefer email. Writing a letter means an extra trip to Geeveston to buy stamps and post the letter and I generally wait till I have other errands to do there so letters are sitting around for a long time waiting to be posted.

Any phobias?

I hate touching dead animals.

How tall are you?

I am about five foot two. I still think of my height in the old measurements as 155cm sounds even shorter.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week we had some nice sunny days which is always something to be grateful for as our weather is unpredictable. I’m grateful to the friend who came and pulled my spare bedroom carpet up. This week I’m having a break from the Op Shop and hoping to get some chores done around the house. I’m looking forward to going to see the Hobart Hurricanes play on Saturday with friends.

Born in England in 1957 my family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. David passed away in 2015 and I'm here on my own now but I have Cindy the dog and Polly the cat to keep me company. I currently co-write two Wordpress blogswith my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and a "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania.
