Share Your World – 2017 – Week#2

Sharing My World This Week

If you lost a bet and had to dye your hair a color of the rainbow for a week, what color would it be?

If we are taking this literally, red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, violet. I would say orange because at least that is a real hair colour and I have never wanted to be a blonde. In reality I would never dye my hair, not even back to its original brown, because I don’t approve of cosmetics being tested on animals. By the way what do non-British people say to remind them of the colours of the rainbow? I can’t imagine you say “Richard of York goes battling in vain.”

If you could choose one word to focus on for 2017, what would it be?

Hope. I feel we all need that these days.

What was one thing you learned last year that you added to your life?

I suppose I learned that I could live alone. I’ve lived alone now for nearly two years but when David was in hospital there was always the thought that he would come home. Luckily I’ve always regarded home as a sanctuary from the world so although it sometimes seems too quiet I’m content most of the time. You are never really alone with pets anyway.

If life was ‘just a bowl of cherries’… which fruit other than a cherry would you be..?

I am from the “Apple Isle” and apples are my favourite fruit. What do you think?

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

This week I am doing extra days at the Op Shop so the main thing I will look forward to is relaxing at home in the evening. Last week was the same, the weather has been warm and sunny, actually hot for here. I had one lovely Saturday afternoon sitting outdoors with a book which I hardly ever get to do as it is often too cold, too wet, too windy or even too hot.

Born in England in 1957 my family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. David passed away in 2015 and I'm here on my own now but I have Cindy the dog and Polly the cat to keep me company. I currently co-write two Wordpress blogswith my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and a "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania.

      1. Is that for the Great lakes? I learned HOMES. I think I do better with just one word rather than phrases. We were taught phrases for the (then) 9 planets and the Animal classifications and I don’t remember those.
