Sharing My World This Week
- Why did you start blogging?
I was doing some volunteer work for a local church which involved maintaining a blog. I’d never used WordPress before so I decided to start a blog of my own to learn and experiment on rather than messing up theirs. As I thought it would be easier to write about something I knew I started my doll blog first. A few weeks later I realised that I wanted to write off topic so I started “My Other Blog”.
- A piece of clothing you still remember?
Mum liked to dress my sister and I in very girly clothing. I remember quite a lot of the things we had. One summer she bought matching cotton duster coats for herself, Naomi and I. They were all blue. Mine was a royal blue and I think mum’s was a little darker. Naomi had turquoise. I liked the coat but I did not like the straw bonnets she bought for us to wear with them. I think I had refused to wear mine when this photo was taken or perhaps I had already outgrown it. Naomi was not so lucky as she was too little to argue.

- Who are you trying to reach with your blog?
I started this blog to share photos and stories about Tasmania as well as about my everyday life, pets and places I’ve been to and occasionally opinions. I guess it is for anyone who finds enjoyment in life loves animals and likes to read about life in other places.
- Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?
There are two old teddy bears in my bedroom. One is the first teddy bear I ever made over 25 years ago. I made a few mistakes as you do when you are learning. David nicknamed the bear Columbo as his eyes looked a bit odd and reminded him of Peter Falk in the detective show of that name. Columbo became his bear and was sometimes taken to Scout camps when David was a Scout Leader and on holiday trips with us in the car. Later I made Albert, a smaller jointed bear, to keep him company. Now they sit on the bedside table on David’s side of the bed.

- The best birthday present ever?
I have had some brilliant doll related birthday presents so I really don’t think I can pick just one.
- What would surprise me about you?
I think I’m an open book to people who know me. Perhaps one thing that might surprise them is how angry I can get sometimes as I usually keep that in check.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Last week I lost my watch which was a gift from David and that upset me quite a lot so last week was not a great week. This week is another one that I have nothing much planned for. We’ve had more rain meaning that I have not had a lot of opportunity to get out and take pictures. This Saturday Naomi and I are planning a trip to a Tip Shop we’ve not been to for some time so perhaps we’ll find some interesting things.
Sorry to hear about your watch. It must be heartbreaking to lose something that was a gift from David. I love the photo of your family!

Thanks Trish, I’m sort of hoping it might turn up, maybe someone handed it in to the bus depot but I may have to face the fact that it’s gone for good.
