Share Your World – 2015 – Week#52

Sharing My World This Week

We have come to the last week of 2015 and I have to say I will be glad to see the end of it as it has been the worst year of my life. Things can only get better from here.

Tell how you are feeling today in the form of a weather report. (For example, partly cloudy, sunny with a chance for showers, etc.)
Partly cloudy but no showers expected today. The long-term outlook is for fine but partly cloudy with a possibility of scattered showers.

What is most memorable about your high school years?
I didn’t enjoy school so I can’t really think of any highlights related to my time there but during those years I went on my first steam train excursions which began a very special chapter of my life. The one that really stands out is the first time I was allowed to travel on an overnight trip without adult supervision. I was fifteen and my sister was thirteen. Our “adult” on the trip was a seventeen year old cousin.

Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewelery?
I have some gemstone samples that I bought on holidays a long time ago and over this past year I have bought a few loose stones. I like them because of their beautiful colours but also because of the qualities they represent. My sister has been learning about crystals and their properties and has told me a little about it. I think it is an interesting subject.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Last week a friend was kind enough to take me to a Hurricanes match at Bellerive and we both had a great time there. I spent Christmas Day with my sister which made it seem a bit more normal than it would have been otherwise. I’ve enjoyed spending time at home watching cricket on television and eating Christmas goodies.
Later this week I will be going to Hobart to see all the Sydney Hobart race yachts as they arrive.

Taswegian1957

I was born in England in 1957 and lived there until our family came to Australia in 1966. I grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where I met and married my husband David. We came together over a mutual love of trains. Both of us worked for the railways for many years, his job was with Australian National Railways, while I spent 12 years working for the STA, later TransAdelaide the Adelaide city transit system. After leaving that job I worked in hospitality until 2008. We moved to Tasmania in 2002 to live in the beautiful Huon Valley. In 2015 David became ill and passed away in October of that year. I currently co-write two blogs on WordPress.com with my sister Naomi. Our doll blog "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls", and "Our Other Blog" which is about everything else but with a focus on photographs and places in Tasmania. In November 2019 I began a new life in the house that Naomi and I intend to make our retirement home at Sisters Beach in Tasmania's northwest. My current housemates are Cindy, my 14-year-old Staffy-Lab X dog and Polly the world's most unsociable cat who is seven.

  1. Cindy and Polly look like they are cool to watch. I like watching animals myself. Recently I had some awful brats moving next door and purposely scaring the birds and squirrels that I have been feeding. 2015 has been really bad for me also, but I am learning not to call it the worst, because fate has sometimes a way to show me that it can always get worse.
I wish you a better new year. I hope it will be filled with a lot of happy days.
