Sharing My World This Week
Favorite thing to photograph? Write? Or Cook?
You might say that I like to photograph and write about all the things I care about. My blog has a Tasmanian focus because I enjoy sharing pictures of my adopted state and especially of the Huon Valley where I live. I love to photograph ships and boats whether they are wooden boats at Franklin or visiting mega sized cruise ships. I also like to photograph interesting buildings because I’m interested in history and the built environment. I enjoy sharing my hobby of doll collecting and my pleasure (most of the time) in watching cricket. Of course I love to photograph my pets and other animals too. As for cooking. I like to do the Christmas baking. No Christmas cake or pudding this year but there will be mince pies and White Christmas as usual.

Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing?
I did enjoy swinging but because of my frequently mentioned fear of falling I was a conservative swinger and never tried to loop the loop by going over the top of the swing. I don’t pay much attention to swings now.
What has surprised you about blogging?
I think what has surprised me most is that my doll blog has become quite popular. Certain pages get quite a lot of visits especially the one I wrote about my Canadian dolls. I get quite a lot of people asking me for help identifying Canadian dolls and I’m not an expert or even living in Canada. I feel the information available about them must be pretty poor when people look to someone in Australia for answers.
I am also surprised by how much I miss it when I don’t blog.

List at least five favorite desserts.
- Christmas pudding, I look forward to it every year.
- Fresh fruit salad with a dollop of cream
- Home made apple crumble with cream, custard or ice cream, especially home-made ice-cream
- Black forest Cake
- Chocolate Mud Cake
I just checked how high is Mt. Wellington, because on your picture it looks like the Rocky Mountains that I see everyday. Mt. Wellington is lower elevation then the city I live in. I live in suburbs of Denver, called Mile High City, so I am on about 6000 feet above the sea level. I envy your ocean that you have and the weather. How hot does it get there in the summer? We are having a blizzard today.

One of the things that I love about Tasmania is that it doesn’t get as hot as the mainland states of Australia and when it does it doesn’t last as long. As I type this I’m listening to the TV weather channel who are predicting temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius for several states. It can stay hot like that for several days in a row. Here in Tasmania in summer high twenties to low thirties is more usual and if the temperature does reach the high thirties it is usually only for a day or two and then we get relief. Hobart is on the estuary of the Derwent River but as an island state we have the ocean all around us which is lovely. I would love to see the Rocky Mountains. Ours are not large, you can drive to the top of Mt Wellington but it’s more hilly here than South Australia where I used to live.
