Sharing My World This Week
In your native language which letter or character describes you best? Why?
I can never answer these questions. I guess I don’t have that kind of mind. If any one letter of the alphabet describes me it is probably the letter “V” which is the first letter of my Christian name. When I write my signature V is always large and sweeping.
What is your greatest extravagance?
No question about it. It would have to be dolls. It used to be a cheap hobby. I’d buy from markets, op shops and eBay when goods and postage were much cheaper. Now it has become expensive because the dolls I want cost more and are harder to find. I try to swear off eBay from time to time and I don’t buy that often really but it seems as if whenever I decide to take a break I see dolls on sale that I really want. I probably spend nearly as much on my Barbie’s wardrobe’s as I do on my own.

Do you prefer exercising your mind or your body? How frequently do you do either?
My mind. I don’t like exercise for the sake of exercise. If I do physical exercise it must have a purpose or be pleasurable. That’s why I like walking. I went for a really long walk yesterday along the Bellerive foreshore to take photos of a cruise ship. I exercise my mind with puzzles and games and play these every day. I recently downloaded Brain Training for Dummies which I have neglected a bit the past month but I play a lot of hidden object games and ones where you have to match pairs of objects. I also enjoy board games like Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit though I don’t get to play those often.

List at least 5 things that makes you laugh.
- The antics of pets.
- Old British comedy TV shows like “The Goodies”and “Yes Minister”.
- Silly conversations with my sister
- Favourite books. Books by Gerald Durrell, Betty MacDonald and Emily Kimbrough make me laugh out loud even though I have read them many times.
- Unintentionally funny people.
- The antics of politicians but not always in a good way.
Dolls are very addictive, aren’t they?

Doll clothes are that expensive?

They can be in relation to the size of the doll. I usually shop for myself at Target, K Mart and other chain stores so a T shirt for me might cost $10-15 if I’m lucky and yet I’ll happily pay around the same for a nice Barbie outfit.
