This week Cee’s Compose Yourself Challenge has picked up on what I consider to be my worst failing as a photographer. I have a huge amount of trouble keeping horizontal lines level. This is just not a problem in photography, hanging pictures is a problem and I always find myself questioning whether something is level or not. I just don’t have the “straight line” gene if there is such a thing.
As this is a problem for me I use photo editing software a lot. The main one that I use is Picasa which is free and very easy to use. I also have Adobe Photoshop Elements but I am still really learning my way around this so I tend to edit in Picasa and save Adobe Photoshop Elements for experimenting with particular photos. Occasionally I will use the Microsoft software to do quick adjustments but even once I’ve edited a picture I am often still doubtful about if I got it right.
So with that warning here are a few photos with horizontal lines. All of them are older photos so I honestly can’t remember which were edited but I think I would have used Picasa’s “Straighten” feature on all of them.
The first and third ones were taken on boats so keeping lines straight was especially challenging.

You have some marvelous horizons for this week’s challenge. I like the Spirit of Tasmania. But then I just like boats and being on the water. š

Yes me too. I have always liked photographing water craft, anything from a row boat to an aircraft carrier.

These are really good straight line images. I sometimes cheat and straight my horizons afterwards. š
