What are your favorite spices?
I love the smell of Christmas cakes and puddings cooking. I always put mixed spice, cinnamon and nutmeg in when I make them so I nominate these as my favourite spices.
What object do you always have with you when traveling and why?
Apart from the obvious items like clothes and toiletries I always have a camera along because you never know when you will see something you want to remember and share with others.
What is one thing you love about being an adult?
Many years ago when my sister and I were on one of our holiday trips we treated ourselves to some Black Forest cake. We meant to eat it for supper but as we often do we sat up late talking and laughing and the next thing we knew it was around 3 am and we had not eaten our cake. I said “Grown ups are allowed to eat cake at 3 am if they want to.”That became a bit of a saying when we wanted to do something that was a bit naughty. I guess that is what I like about being an adult, although we can’t control every aspect of our lives and we do have to show a bit of self-control every now and again we can do things that we know others would disapprove of and there is nobody to say we can’t.
What item, that you don’t have already, would you most like to own?
A few months ago I decided that I would like to have a tablet or eReader. I don’t own one of these yet and have been considering what I would get when I could afford it. Recently though, Hubby was given a tablet by his sister to use in hospital. So when he comes home I will have access to it which means that it is not strictly an item I don’t have any more.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
My sister and I have managed a couple of days out while she has been on holidays. We had a very nice day out at the Botanical Gardens last week and yesterday a trip to New Norfolk where we had lunch and visited antique and gift shops. I took a lot of photos which I enjoyed immensely and bought a doll for my collection of costume dolls. I also went to the opening of a local history project near my home.
This coming Saturday it is ANZAC Day and I hope that I will be able to get up early enough to walk to town and go to the Dawn Service and that I can get a bus to Hobart in time to see the ANZAC Parade before I visit Hubby. There is a big display of poppies in Parliament Square Gardens and I hope to visit and photograph these too before the end of the week. It is the Centenary of the Gallipoli landings and although ANZAC Day is always moving this one should be extra special. I haven’t seen the Hobart parade before although I often used to go when I lived in Adelaide.
