Last One For 2014
Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?
We rarely get snow where I live. Tasmania does get more snow than the other states but mostly in the mountains so I’m used to seeing a sprinkle of snow on Mt Wellington or Hartz Mountain south of us but we don’t get it on the ground so often and it doesn’t last long. I don’t honestly think that I would want long, cold, snowy winters. I can remember falling over on icy pavement as a child and it was not fun and I’ve read enough blogs from people in colder climates to think that it would be very inconvenient to be snowed in or have your pipes freeze. I think what I would like would just be to have one or two really snowy days to enjoy every winter so I could go and take some nice photos and maybe make a snowman. I’d be happy with that.
So, you’re on your way out and it’s raining. Do you know where your umbrella is or do you frantically search for it all over your apartment/house?
This made me laugh because it was raining when I read it and I was about to go out. I keep an umbrella on a hook with my rain jacket, hats and handbags near the back door so I always know where it is but I don’t have a good relationship with umbrellas. I’ve never liked them. They are no good when it’s windy as it was today. My sister and I sat in a cafe for half an hour today in Hobart and we saw a lot of people struggling with umbrellas blowing inside out. I also have a tendency to put them down and forget about them as I did once in Melbourne. We were visiting the Rialto Tower in Collins Street which at that time was the tallest building in the city. We had a nice lunch at the revolving restaurant and enjoyed the views of the city on the Observation Deck. Eventually we left and it was raining outside, people were putting up their umbrellas and I looked around for mine. It was gone! All I could think of to say was “I used to have one of those.” My sister thought it was hilarious and still can’t speak for laughing when the subject comes up. It was only a $2 umbrella so I didn’t bother going back for it. I was afraid I’d have to pay another admission fee. It’s really Hubby’s fault, I put the umbrella down to call him from a payphone and forgot to pick it up.
Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?
I don’t know if I really have a preference. I enjoy stir fried meat and vegetables together and I like salads but I also like meat and 3 veg served separately.
What is set as the background on your computer?
At the moment I have a slide show of photos I took in Melbourne but I’ll probably change it again soon. I often change it to whatever is going on currently so my next mix might be yachts or cricket photos.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
We had a lovely day on Christmas Day. Hubby who has been sick for a lot of this month was feeling well, my sister came to spend the day and we had a nice family meal. Everyone was pleased with their gifts and I don’t really mind that she beat me twice at Scrabble. Next week? Well after the December we have had if we don’t need to call an ambulance again I’d be very happy.
